STAR-CCM+ quickly, easily and efficiently prepares and generates meshes for the most complex geometries. With both manual and automatic surface preparation tools as well as state of the art polyhedral and trimmed cell meshing, STAR-CCM+ cuts geometry preparation and meshing time down from weeks or even months, to hours. The meshing technology offers the ultimate balance between user control and automation.
The STAR-CCM+ meshing pipeline.
STAR-CCM+ employs a pipeline methodology to ensure that the path from initial geometry to mesh can be easily and robustly automated. Each step in the meshing process may be executed in sequence, or independently, with a common set of user parameters. The automated meshing process may be carried out interactively, in batch or remotely.
A complete set of tools for surface preparation.
STAR-CCM+ gives users choice and flexibility when preparing surfaces for volume meshing. An extensive set of operations are available for surface preparation including: error diagnostics, fine grained manipulation of surface primitives, topological identification, defeaturing, boolean and imprinting operations on triangulated surfaces.
Minimizing preparation time with automatic surface wrapping.
STAR-CCM+’s revolutionary and unmatched surface wrapping technology has enabled users to reduce their surface preparation times by several orders of magnitude. Where as before generating a high quality surface mesh could take weeks, with STAR-CCM+ it takes minutes. Fully automatic and with the ability to reliably handle the most complex geometries and large assemblies, it has justifiably earned a reputation as the best in the business.
A flexible choice of volume mesh.
STAR-CCM+ offers a range of technologies for volume mesh generation including the pioneering polyhedral and trimmed hexahedral mesh types. For multi-domain studies such as conjugate heat transfer and FSI, fully conformal meshes can automatically be created. Prism layers are robustly generated to ensure accurate capture of boundary layers. A number of specialized meshers are also available including generation of prismatic elements for thin objects, generalized cylindrical geometries and boundary extrusion.
Because STAR‑CCM+ is a completely integrated simulation framework, our engineers have the required time to concentrate on engineering analysis, rather than needlessly transferring models between different software packages.
